Move the way your body was meant to move!

Dance your way to wellness.  Nia is a unique dance experience, created by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas over 25 years ago, inspired by nine different movement forms.  When combined, they facilitate the ability to dance the way your body was meant to move.

Integrating the Western dance modalities of modern, jazz, and Duncan dance, with eastern martial arts of T'ai Chi, Tae Kwon Do, and Aikido, Nia also incorporates Feldenkrais, the Alexander Technique, and the powerful, conscious postures of Yoga in a non-impact aerobic workout ideal for all ages and fitness levels.

Nia helps you reclaim a healthy body image as you develop flexibility, strength, stability, balance, agility, and mobility. Moving to the uplifting music of Nia is designed to be a spiritual, soulful and joyful encounter.

What is Nia?

Nia is an expressive body-mind movement and lifestyle practice, embracing fitness and health. The benefits include cardiovascular conditioning, flexibility, strength, balance, endurance and relaxation. All movements are adaptable and can be personalized for any level of fitness and agility. Nia was created by Debbie Rosas and Carlos Rosas in 1982.

Nia is the first and most advanced form of fusion fitness - the combining of classic movement forms, it encompasses the martial arts, the healing arts (including yoga), and dance. This combination creates a synergy that no isolated technique can match.

Nia (pronounced Nee' ah) is a worldwide fitness movement with more than twenty years of technical advancement.

Nia can benefit everyone, from beginners of any age to professional athletes seeking the ultimate "cross-training" discipline.

"The gentle flowing rhythmic movements of Nia dance lends itself to enhancing the flow of the lymphatic system throughout the body. This is essential for healthy tissue. Nia dance helps nurture a healthy lymphatic system."

How does Nia work?

Through expressive movement - the Body's Way - Nia empowers people to achieve physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health and well-being. Nia moves you from the inside out, using imagery to stimulate whole body movement and dynamic ease.

All movements are natural and systemic, playful and empowering, respecting each person's skill and fitness level.

Nia uses a wide variety of music to fuel your energy, burn calories, engage your imagination, and free your spirit.
